In the beginning... there was a bike exhibit to tear down, walls to prep and paint, marketing to do, vinyl lettering to install... and a show to hang. Oh yeah, and then there was finding the artists & performers to fill the space!

Old Town Laurel's Main Street was designated an Arts & Entertainment District in 2011. The following year, The Laurel Factory was formed to promote the arts by offering new and exciting experiences to the community. The Laurel Factory organized and directed a neighborhood event at the C Street Gallery: "The 2012 Experience". The Experience consisted of 14 consecutive weeks of unique art events which included visual & performing artists, neighborhood businesses, and fellow educators. The event was an EXPERIMENT to quantify the local interest in a diverse cultural-arts experience. In addition to four monthly distinct visual fine art exhibits showcasing over 50 artists in 14 weeks, a form of entertainment was introduced each week including poets, storytellers, singers, musicians, dancers and fashion.FACTORY? Yes… of creativity! A factory of innovators, entrepreneurs, and creatives… we cultivate producers. |
